Some women are bad. Some women are a bad idea. The best ones are both…
A former Black Ops assassin, “Lucky” Landon has had more near-misses than a man should ever have. Now he’s out of that business and settling into the simple life in his small hometown. So the last thing he ever expected was to end up at gunpoint. Or that the woman holding the gun would be his best friend’s little sister and Lucky’s on-again/off-again lover.
Taylor Elliott is Trouble, and she likes it that way. And seeing Lucky again? Well, he’s been her dirty little secret for the past few years and everyone knows that secrets in a small town are almost impossible to keep. But Taylor has bigger problems on her plate. Like the local mob boss who wants her dead.
And right now the only thing standing between Trouble and disaster is a hottie named Lucky…
Lucky is in town to help a friend out with a missing person’s case and to buy his family’s farm so he can finally have somewhere to call home. He’s blindsided by the appearance of his best friend’s little sister and realizes this may be his last chance to make her his forever. They’ve always had a strong attraction and have acted on it many times over their past but he knows she doesn’t want it to be anything other than scratching an itch. He is growly and possessive of her but at the same time wants her to be happy even if it tears his heart out of his chest. When she decides to take matters in to her own hands and help him with his case by being a stripper, he almost loses it but it is made worse when she catches the attention of a local bad guy.
Taylor is notorious for being willful and having the ability to be in the thick of trouble no matter what she tries to do. She’s very driven and only came home to help her brother close up and sell the family home. When she runs in to Lucky again she’s happy to scratch an itch but panics when she sees that this is more than that to him. She’s extremely afraid of losing control of her life and allowing someone to make decisions for her. Unfortunately she doesn’t see beyond this fear and truly see that Lucky isn’t out to control her but to love her and let her grow. She makes a few major mistakes in this book when it comes to him but I understood where that fear came from.
I really did enjoy how much Lucky was willing to deal with when it came to his pursuit of Taylor and the fact that he really did love her, warts and all, was very obvious in this story. He’s definitely sigh-worthy and I found myself wanting to reach through the Kindle to slap sense in to her.
I have to say thank you to NetGalley.com and Entangled Publishing for giving me the chance to read this in exchange for my honest opinion.
Olivia hates the singles scene, so when her best guy friend, Ian, offers to be her plus one to a series of weddings she has to attend, she agrees. Although she doesn’t want to complicate their lifelong friendship, she can’t pass up the chance to have a steady date without the dating drama. What she doesn’t expect is to now find Ian so incredibly sexy.
When Ian sees his old friend Olivia dolled up for wedding #1, the boyhood crush he once nurtured transforms into smoldering attraction. It doesn’t take long for their no-strings arrangement to turn physical. But as Olivia’s desire to stay “just friends” becomes clear, Ian’s feelings are deepening. In the time they have together, how will Ian convince Olivia that one plus one can make for a lifelong pair?
This was a fun story about two people who have always been there for one another but one has kept a blind eye to how much the other truly wants them.
Olivia has just ended yet another meh relationship but is not looking forward to going to a series of weddings by herself. When her best friend’s little brother (her best guy friend) Ian offers to be her “plus one” for the events she decides to accept but is shocked by how much she wants him as the time moves on. She struggles with this new attraction as she feels it will cause her to lose the two people who mean everything in the world to her. As they spend more time together she decides to propose a no-strings attached fling but finds herself fighting to not let it be more than she proposed.
Ian was just an incredibly sexy man. He only moved away to escape his feelings for Olivia. He can’t be around and watch her go from person to person when all he wants is to be is her one. He agrees to go along with this whole plus one thing just so he can spend time with her but struggles to keep his own attraction under wraps. While he agrees to the whole no-strings plan he really hopes that he will be able to finally get her to see him as someone that will love her for all time. He’s willing to push her when he has to but is smart enough to back off as needed.
Overall this was a very nice story with a good amount of heat and heart that made me laugh at times but also made me smile at the level of sweet adoration Ian had for her. She truly is a lucky woman.

When Eden Carver, Iowa farm girl turned NY actress, decides to seduce the sexy cop next door, she begins to wonder if she’s bitten off more than she can chew. The last thing Officer Jay Bennett wants is to cross a line with the sweet and innocent country girl—no matter how much he’d like to help himself to a nibble. Not only are they in the friendship zone, a naïve girl like Eden doesn’t belong in his dangerous world. But when she asks him to help her rehearse lines, and things go from simmer to boil, he finds himself doing the one thing he swore he’d never do.He knows he needs to walk away from temptation, but when sweet little Eden bites back, it tilts his world on its axis.Because biting back changes everything.
Very cute. hot, quick read that shows you can’t always judge a person by their outside.
Eden has been nursing a huge crush on her cop neighbor since they first met. He’s become her best friend in the city but she wants him to see her as someone that he can play out his naughty fantasies with and be more than just her buddy. After a conversation with some of her female friends she decides to take matters in to her own hands and push the boundaries with him. She creates a script that calls for him rescuing her from a situation that has her dressed skimpily and also lets her make moves on him that she hopes will cause him to make a move.
Jay has been lusting over his innocent farm girl next door neighbor but thinks there is no way she could want the rough, darker desires that he craves from her. When she comes over begging for his help rehearsing lines for a part that seems to be a tad racier than he expected. As they play out the lines he starts to wonder if she is just acting or if she really wants him in all his rough glory. He’s conflicted because he really wants to keep her innocent and knows if he crossed the line with her that his career would become something he would need to give up. He’s got an amazing reason to do what he does and I really enjoyed that side of him.
This is a very short story but the characters were fun and I did feel like I got a nice feel for them in this short amount of time. Thanks to NetGalley.com and Entangled Publishing for giving me the chance to read this in exchange for my honest review.
When Morgan Sanderson left her grandparents’ anniversary party, she had no idea how much the previous week would impact her life. Four years later she’s living a content life, teaching literature and being the best mom she can be, even if she knows something is missing. That thing being the one person she can’t forgive and yet can’t get over.
The week Ryan Cartwright spent with Morgan was the best week of his life until tragedy struck, one that changed his life completely. Four years later he discovers he has three year old twins with Morgan, the one woman he’s never been able to forget and let go. Can he forgive her from keeping the knowledge of his sons from him?
As they uncover the truth behind their separation, they discover the love they’ve always felt for each other is still there, but can they ever trust each other again?
How would you feel if you met the love of your life when you weren’t looking for it? What if you found them, spent the best week of your life with them and had them have to leave unexpectedly? What if you didn’t have their contact information and found out you were pregnant? Imagine all this and mistaken identity that causes a ton of heartache to get this story.
Morgan is content being on the outside away from all the crowd at her grandparent’s house when she runs in to a man who not only brings her out of her exile but makes her feel things that she doesn’t quite know what to do with. They have an incredible week when he is called out of town unexpectedly. After he leaves she realizes they don’t have each others contact information plus he has the wrong last name for her. You see her family has been burned before with the whole gold-digger thing so she used a false last name with him out of habit. After she finds out that their one time together has left her pregnant she wants to find him but at a fundraising party later that same day she sees a man that seems to be her prince wooing another woman and acting like he’s never met her before in her life. Devastated she decides to not try to tell him and move on with her life in small town, Holiday, Vermont. A few years pass before she gets a message that he knows about his sons and is probably on his way to confront her plus meet them.
Ryan was stunned to find the woman he has been unable to forget since their one week together but has never been able to track her down until his twin (identical) brother informs him that he not only knows where she is but that he is a father. You see he only left on such short notice because of a tragedy that has resulted in he and Evan raising two little girls. He’s shocked to find out that he’s a father and honestly even though he isn’t happy about missing out on so much he’s excited to see the woman he never forgot. When he sees her again he knows that she is it for him and the feelings that he had from that one week together were real and worth pursuing. He’s also at a bit of a crossroads in his life as he’s not sure that he can put himself in the dangerous situations he does every day in his job as a big city cop. He works very hard to earn Morgan’s trust back and be patient as she works to let him back in.
I have to say I loved both of them as they struggled to reconnect at decide to take a chance on something amazingly rare. They really did connect in that single week and being back together after so much time apart but feeling like the time had never happened showed them it was real. It was believable when Morgan struggled to commit fully and take that jump to trust in her heart but I loved it. I loved how Ryan was so strong in his conviction that she was everything to him and that he let her take the time she needed to make up her mind even though it did hurt him. He’s such a good man and the fact that he really understood where she was coming from was beautiful to see. This is a heartwarming story even with the initial heartbreak. I mean I wanted to strangle the man we thought was Ryan early in the story. I’ll definitely keep my eye out for more from Heather and cannot thank her enough for taking a chance on me. She was daring enough to send me an email to see if I would like to read this for review with no expectations that I would like it let alone love it. I adored it and would gladly recommend it to anyone who likes reunion stories or true love stories.
(1 Curious Sub + 1 Dom in Denial) – Inhibitions = 4 Naughty Nights
Wildlife biologist Lindsey thought attending a fan convention with her new boyfriend Ben was a great idea—until their relationship fizzled. Lindsey still lusts after her ex—but if he wants her, he’s going to have to prove it.
Ben will do anything to win Lindsey back, and when he sees her in her skimpy black vinyl convention get-up, he realizes what she’s been craving all along. And he is inspired to finally give in to his own dark desire to take complete sexual control…
Lindsey is surprised by her reaction to Ben’s kinky new seduction techniques, and suddenly sees the brilliant but uptight code guru in a different light. After several erotic encounters in hotel rooms and stairwells, she’s falling for Ben all over again. And wondering if the intimate connection will last once they head home…
I read this preRT convention and really enjoyed it. I also enjoyed getting to meet Delphine while there!
Imagine having to be stuck in a RV for hours with your ex-boyfriend. It would suck wouldn’t it? In this case it all works out for the pair in the end as they really never lost their lust or feelings for one another it just didn’t work out. Both of them were hiding things from each other but I loved how it all played out.
Lindsey has always had an interest in BDSM but when Ben saw her reading a comic that is heavily BDSM oriented and tore it apart verbally she believed that he would be so adamantly opposed to it she never brought it up. As she hid more of this side of her nature away they started to come apart at the seams. She still wants him but her need to be dominated is becoming more and more prevalent with his misinterpretation of her interest in a mutual friend causes them to finally split up. When they arrive at the convention she lucks in to a gig as a substitute for one of the submissive characters in her favorite comic which allows her to experiment with this side of her nature.
Ben is shocked when he sees his ex acting out her submissive fantasies (mild and publicly acceptable) and realizes he still wants her. After a funny conversation with the friend (actually his girlfriend) he finally wakes up to realize that he is turned on by her wanting to be dominated. Even better he goes about finding out more about the lifestyle and realizes he’s not only turned on by it but that he wants to be the one to fulfill all her fantasies. I really enjoyed watching him wake up and come out of his shell. He’s geeky but hot and when his inner Dom comes out to play it is a lot of fun to read. I also enjoyed that he did work on his own issues with never committing to anything long term and realized that this was also a major part in their breakup.
This is a cute, hot read and trust me I think any of us would love to have Ben for our very own… Long live the sexy geek.

Book two of Girls Most Likely to…
Ten years ago, Marc and Bree were voted Cutest Couple—until a graduation-night argument destroyed their relationship. Unable to contact him, Bree had no choice but to forget Marc—and raise the son she never got to tell him about.
Marc got Bree’s message loud and clear when he never heard from her again. Now stationed near his hometown, he sees their high school reunion as a chance to make peace with the past. But after one glimpse of Bree, he knows he never really got over her. And after one glimpse of her son, Marc knows he’s the boy’s father…
Despite the secrets and lies that kept them apart, Marc and Bree can’t resist picking up where they left off. But when the weekend is over, it may be too late to build the future they once dreamed of.
For Kelsey and Nathan’s story, check out Most Likely to Succeed.
So far this series has had a cute reunited crush story and now we have former sweethearts with one holding on to a huge secret. Both were good quick reads but in this one I did find myself a little mad at the heroine for keeping the secret the way she did. I understood her reasonings but just because you understand it doesn’t mean you like the reasons.
Bree is dreading the high school reunion but she figures her old flame won’t show up especially since he hasn’t set foot in their town since the last argument they had. She’s not 100% thrilled that he shows up nor is she happy when her feelings for him don’t seem to have gone away since the last time they saw each other. She knows she has one hell of a secret to spill but it comes out in a very public, very poor way that they both have to scramble to come to terms with. As she spends more time with him she has to decide is what drove them apart in the first place really worth losing the only man who has ever been able to make her feel anything?
Marc is shocked when he sees Bree and realizes that she still calls to him in a way that no other woman has been able to. He’s also understandably shocked when he finds out he has a son. He’s pissed off for being kept in the dark and does behave a bit badly in the initial moments but I understood his reaction and just felt bad for him. I loved that he just wanted to know his son but as he spent more time with Bree he realized that he wanted it all with her. He pushed but also didn’t back down when she wouldn’t accept his career choices and kept his life going but with them in it. He’s a good guy that deserved better treatment by the woman he loves even though I really did get her reactions and issues.
I really did enjoy the pair and cannot wait for the next one… 😉 Special thanks to NetGalley.com and Carina Press for giving me the chance to read this in exchange for my honest review. As always you can run out and grab this plus other fun titles by clicking the link to Carina on my sidebar.
A chef and a rock star. They couldn’t be from more different worlds…
Rock star royalty’s favorite son, Jake Olsen, couldn’t help but interfere after listening to his future brother-in-law talk non-stop about his ex-wife, Beth Carlisle. Jake decides that the only way to get the groom’s mind off his ex-wife is to give her a fake fiancé.
Before Jake can convince Beth of his plan, he’s forced to move in with her to avoid the paparazzi. Their instant attraction makes for a sizzling “first date”, but soon Jake’s fame gets in the way and Beth wants out. Too bad Jake’s figured out just why her ex is so obsessed with her, and he’s afraid he’s not going to be able to give her up either.
Now it’s up to Jake to convince this chef together they make the perfect recipe.(
This was a cute book with a bit of a rush to the whole love thing but Jake and Beth as a couple do make sense even with the quick ILY.
Jake is worried about his half-sister who is marrying a man that appears to be hung up on his ex-wife so he decides to take matters in to his own hands. Of course being a rock-star what better way to get this handled but to create a fake fiancee. I mean sure he could just show up and try talking to her plus get to know her but hey why not? Let’s create this fake story so he can move in with her and put himself in the way of the soon-to-be groom. What he gets when he meets her is a woman at a very low point in her life that makes him feel much more than he ever expected. She’s genuine and in his life he doesn’t do that sort of thing… no permanence and to be honest it is an incredibly lonely life that he has created but doesn’t know how to live outside the public eye. He opens up and shows her more of himself in their few days together but knows in his heart that all he will do is crush what he loves so much about her if he stays. I liked him even when he was being the rock god as you did get a good feel for how hollow it all is to him.
Beth was something else. She lets a man in to her home that she doesn’t know but as she gets to know him shows him more of herself than she has ever shown another soul. She’s reeling from a loss in her life and uses her kitchen as an outlet for this grief. She’s very grounded so having Jake come in and tear apart her haven makes her feel vulnerable but when she sees the real him it is it for her. She’s not in love with her ex nor is he with her but they are incredibly close due to basically being raised together. I liked seeing that she really was over her ex and that he really was over her but felt that he needed to make sure she found her own soul mate even though someone outside their little circle wouldn’t get it at all. She pushes all the right buttons with the entourage that surrounds Jake’s life but wants something real from him and isn’t sure it would ever work between her plain Jane self and his Rock God image.
As I said originally this was a nice read even with the hurried ILY and I will gladly go check out more by this author. Special thanks to the publicity team at Entangled Publishing for giving me a chance to read this early in exchange for my honest review.
As I type this I am thinking about all the things I have left to do this week before the insanity that will be my week next week begins.
What insanity you say?
RT Booklovers Convention insanity!
So to put this in perspective… this will be my first book convention ever which means I have no clue what I really need to pack or expect. People that know me understand that I like to have things in order before I go anywhere and not having a clue of what to expect other than being busy causes me to stress a little bit. << Yes I can see quite a few of them rolling their eyes right now and saying “A little?? HAH!” >> I’m not OCD about a lot of stuff but I really hate not already having everything either packed or at least organized the weekend before I leave on a week long trip but in this case I still have stuff to pick up later today and hair/nails to be done in the next two days.
Now I am looking forward to this trip but at the same time it has made me get a bit behind on reading/reviewing as acquiring clothing, accessories and miscellaneous toiletries have taken a major chunk of my reading time away. Add in weather that can’t decide if it is Spring or Winter and allergies that are trying to decide if I need to be able to breathe or not and we have a very messed up Stephanie. Get ready to see some reviews posting over the next few days as I work in time to write/post them plus some items going up while I am in Kansas City next week as time permits.
For those that are reading this and will be at the convention… Please say HI but forgive me if later in the week I don’t recognize you as I am sure my brain will hit its maximum memory limit fairly early in the week and to be honest my fan-girl self will be dancing in delight as I get to finally meet some of the authors/editors that have both given me titles that you have seen on here as reviews and entertained me through the years with their words.
Be prepared to see some giveaways after I get back as I’m sure there will be items that I will want to share with those of you who weren’t able to get to Kansas City. I’ll also post pictures and other items here plus tweet while I am there so have fun in my absence.
Now this list isn’t complete but I’m really looking forward to meeting (not any particular order & I know I missed people) :

No matter how hard she tries, Eleanor Fisher never thinks she’s good enough, from her job to her weight to her love life. After enduring years of abuse at the hands of an ex-boyfriend, Elli has been drifting through life in a daze. Until, that is, she meets Shea Adler on a promotional shoot for the NHL’s Nashville Assassins. Before Elli knows what’s happening, the gorgeous Shea breaks the ice and shatters her world.
A brilliant athlete inside the rink, Shea Adler is tired of the life he’s living outside of it: the girls, the money, the drinking. But everything changes when he meets Elli. After laying eyes on this feisty, witty, beautiful woman, he feels like he’s just taken the hardest hit of his life. No matter how skeptical she is, Shea knows they are meant to be together—if only he can convince Elli to put her insecurities aside throw her insecurities out the window before she misses out on a shot at love.
Trying to Score:
In a captivating novel of hockey and healing hearts, the newest member of the Nashville Assassins pulls a power play to make things right with the one that got away.
Fallon Parker’s dream has always been to turn her family’s wine company into a runaway success and eventually to start a cellar of her own. Since graduating from college, she has worked relentlessly to make that dream a reality, especially after taking a chance on love—and losing. By the time Fallon becomes an official sponsor of the Nashville Assassins, she feels like all her hard work is finally paying off. And then the man who broke her heart skates back into her life.
On the ice, Lucas Brooks is the NHL’s leading scorer—at least when he’s not in the box. Off the ice, he’s a mess, with all his anger and misery bottled up inside. He threw away the most important person in his life and has regretted it ever since. But when Lucas returns to Nashville in a trade, he’s determined to convince Fallon that he’s a changed man. The attraction is still there. The tension is electrifying. But the odds are stacked against them—especially after Lucas finds out that Fallon has been keeping a devastating secret.
The chiseled men of the Nashville Assassins can make anything happen when they go all-out for the women they want—even turn a one-night stand into a happily ever after.
Audrey Parker is up against the boards. She’s stuck in a job she hates and pining for a total jerk. Meanwhile, her sister Fallon is moving out and getting married to hockey star Lucas Brooks. Where is Audrey’s Prince Charming? Nothing she does has ever seemed to be good enough for any of the men in her life. Audrey’s about to hit rock bottom . . . until she wakes up next to Tate Odder.
The thrill of moving up from the minors to the Nashville Assassins was a welcome distraction. But not even becoming the first rookie goalie to tally three shutouts in the Stanley Cup Finals alleviates the pain. With the loss of his parents and sister weighing as heavily on his soul as ever, Tate Odder can’t keep pretending he’s okay. That’s when he meets smart, sexy Audrey. Her gentle warmth and quirky sense of humor make him feel whole for the first time in too long. But to stay that way forever, Tate must find a way to accept his past and learn to live for love.
And, look for FALLING FOR THE BACKUP Novella & BLUE LINES in August!
Opposites do more than just attract in Toni Aleo’s latest Nashville Assassins novel about a very bad boy and the good girl he can’t resist.
The instant Piper Allen sees Erik Titov, she wants him—wants his rock-hard body, sure, but the strength and mystery that lie behind that superstar hockey jock demeanor, too. So when he sidles up to her at a bar and slinks his arm around her waist, she’s lost. What follows is the wildest night of her life . . . followed by inevitable heartbreak the next morning. And then, a few weeks later, a very big surprise: two blue lines on a pregnancy test.
Only a check to the head could make Erik fall for a nice girl like Piper. But since their crazy-sexy night together, he’s been trying to forget about her alluring body by falling into bed with every woman in Nashville, and it’s not working. So when Piper shows up at his house with a baby-bomb to drop, it doesn’t take much for Erik to suggest the nuclear option: marriage. While it’s supposed to be all for show, the second they say “I do,” the ice between them starts to melt into sizzling steam.
